The summer window is officially open and Arsenal have been making moves to bolster its squad ahead of the new season and a number of target have been eyed for a potential transfer move.
The latest name now been linked with a move to the Emirates is Anderlecht starlet Albert Sambi Lokonga who put up an impressive display in the just concluded season.
The 21-year-old midfielder have been scouted by Arsenal for two years now and a move could have happened in 2019 had he not pen down a new deal with his current club.
However, Arsenal have now renewed their interest in the Youngster and it appears that Anderlecht are ready to let him leave as replacement have already been lined up.
According to reports, Anderlecht are in talks to sign Vincent Kompany and once his signing is confirmed, Lokonga will be allowed to move on.
With Granit Xhaka on the verge of joining Roma, also with Dani Ceballos returning to Real Madrid following his two-year loan spell, this will come as a transfer boost to Mikel Arteta who is looking to fill that void.
Lokonga is one of the most highly-rated youngsters in European football and Arsenal legend Thierry Henry have already endorsed the 21-year-old.
“If the Gunners are able to seal a deal for Lokonga, they will land themselves a player capable of reaching Axel Witsel’s level with the Belgium national team” Henry Said.
“The experience he is gaining now will make him the player he can become.”
“His potential for the future of Belgian football is at the level of Axel Witsel.
“Those are big words, but that’s his potential.” He added.
Reports claims Arsenal are now in advanced talks to sign the starlet and could make a move before the transfer window closes.
