The Chelsea left back has sent warning notes to his teammate, Kovacic ahead of their national sides clash
Chilwell has ahead of time warned Mateo Kovacic that he won’t see the game today as that with a teammate.
England lock horns today with Croatia as the Euro2020 sets into its third fixture day.
But unfortunately for the Chelsea left back, Chilwell, he won’t be starting for Southgate this afternoon.
Chilwell recently won the UEFA Champions League with the Blues along side Croatia’s Kovacic.
According to Ben Chilwell ahead of their game this afternoon, the fact that he shared good memories with Mateo Kovacic doesn’t stop him from causing Croatia pain.
“I spoke to him after the Champions League final and before when we were at Chelsea and we spoke a lot. Just jokes really,” Chilwell said to UEFA.
“Obviously now it’s getting a bit closer to the occasion, it’s a lot more serious.
“Obviously I’ve played against Kova before but not when we’ve been friends and teammates. Obviously Mason [Mount], Reece [James] as well.
“Yeah it will be good to see him but we’re not going to be friendly until after the final whistle goes.”
