Barcelona have confirmed that Lionel Messi has come to the end of his stay at the club
Lionel Messi has officially left Barcelona after 17-years spent at the club.
Messi who joined Barcelona as a teenager has been reported to be ending his stay at the club after meeting with the representatives to discuss his contract.
With 683 goals netted across his 810 games for the Catalans, Barcelona will be leaving the club as a Legend as he and the club failed to reach an agreement for a new contract.
Messi saw his last contract expire without renewal and the club chiefs did days back assured he will stay.
But the update released just minutes back has revealed the Argentine has finally left the club due to the club’s financial structure and Laliga regulations.
In response to the exit, Barcelona said;
“Despite FC Barcelona and Lionel Messi having reached an agreement and the clear intention of both parties to sign a new contract today, this cannot happen because of financial and structural obstacles (Spanish Liga regulations).
“As a result of this situation, Messi shall not be staying on at FC Barcelona. Both parties deeply regret that the wishes of the player and the club will ultimately not be fulfilled.
“FC Barcelona wholeheartedly expresses its gratitude to the player for his contribution to the aggrandisement of the club and wishes him all the very best for the future in his personal and professional life.”
