Erik ten Hag will likely need a younger replacement for De Gea at some point soon in his revamp project.
The Dutch manager needs a shot-stopper who can challenge De Gea, if not now then certainly in a few years’ time. Finding a goalkeeper with such talent who would be willing to initially sit on the bench is an extremely difficult task.
Dean Henderson, the Man United stopper who came back from a loan spell at Sheffield United after the 2021/2022 session, is on another loan at Nottingham Forest.
Dean has been pulling up impressive performances, even with little experience in his defense line, saved a couple of Penalties in the season, including that of Harry Kane the dreadful English poacher.
Dean has decided to keep his attention with Nottingham Forest rather than return back to Manchester United. He went further to reveal that the treatment he got at Manchester on his return was “criminal”, after been promised a first team role, only managed to clock 26 appearances.
The Englishman went further to tell that he “wasted” 12 months of his career. The 25-year-old when asked which team he would most like to come up against during the season.

“It would be Man United but I can’t play that game, unfortunately! That is me being honest with you – it would be United,” he said in a seemingly vengeful tone.
The omission of a buyout clause in his loan deal to Forest is a hopeful indication that Erik ten Hag sees him as a long-term replacement for De Gea, albeit the two haven’t spoken since his exit.
However, Henderson’s comments indicate that he has no plans for a Manchester United return. It means Ten Hag may have to rethink his long-term goalkeeping plans.
