Didier Drogba Sends Rafael Leao Message To Chelsea

Didier Drogba believes Rafael Leao will only keep getting better if he continues in the direction he is going, tagging the Portuguese a ‘Fearless Warrior’

Chelsea transfer target, Rafael Leao has won praises from Didier Drogba who tagged the attacker a ‘Fearless Warrior’ following recent show against UEFA Champions League opponents, Dynamo Zagreb.

AC Milan now need just a point to move into the UCL round of 16 after producing a comfortable win to become the 1st side to beat Zagreb on their home soil since December 2021.

Although with a slow start, Milan managed to kick into gear after some level of pressure from the Croatians with Gabbia sending the visitors in front before Rafael Leao was seen dashing through Defenders and getting into a 1v1 position to blast past Livakovic to extend Milan lead.

Leao was back in a dangerous position when he dragged out the Goalkeeper before sending a cross over to Olivier Giroud who had earlier on netted a penalty to make it 3, but this time the Frenchman couldn’t connect with the ball but with the post wide open, Ljubicic headed the ball right into his own net while racing to come deny Giroud a goal.

Although not winning the MOTM, Leao had similar impact to Sandro Tonali as he was directly involved in two goals and former Chelsea attacker, Drogba believes the 23-year-old could only get better.

“Leao is one of the youngsters I like to watch from time to time, his technicality is something I enjoy,” Drogba said.

“I think he is more of a fearless warrior who is ready to do what needs to be done whenever opportunity shows up, his calculations and ability to run into defenders is just soo good,” Drogba added.

AC Milan lost both legs to Chelsea with Fikayo Tomori been sent off early in the second leg, handing Chelsea an edge as they finished the night in front but according to Didier Drogba, the red card change the course of the night for his former club.

“Yes, when AC Milan played against us, we were obviously the better side (smiles), we had more opportunities cause we created more and of course the red card affected the game for them but we won and that’s the most important thing.”

Rafael Leao remains in the radar for Chelsea who made a late attempt to land him last summer and Drogba believes if he eventually ends up in Chelsea then he can help the attack.

“Like I have said earlier, things have changed at Chelsea, alot. But we keep supporting and if eventually Leao ends up joining us one day then it will be fun to watch cause he can help the attack.”

The 44-year-old had earlier on this year made an attempt to impact directly into his Country’s footballing sector but with a controversial voting, Drogba lost the election.

Reflecting on the journey, he said; “I can’t say much, somethings just happen and maybe that was just not meant to be, I want the best for my people and thought I could help in that way, maybe I can try again later.”
