Mikel Arteta is being tipped to bolster his squad with the signing of Emi Buendia in the summer transfer window, but what shirt number could he wear?
The Gunners won’t be playing any European competition next season and Mikel Arteta knows his squad needs a revamp, with a lot of confirmed departures already.
Arsenal will now be looking to add to its attacking force and according to reports Norwich playmaker, Emiliano Buendia have been identified as a target.
Buendia is regarded as the long-term replacement for Mesut Ozil at Arsenal but a move has been made complicated with the canaries rejecting Arsenal’s first bid of €30M.
It’s understood that the Gunners submitted its first bid in a fee around €30M and that offer was rejected by the newly promoted club as they are holding out for €40M.
However, Arsenal will still press ahead with plans to sign the Argentine as they look to edge of competition from Aston Villa.
If Buendia were to join the club, fans will be looking forward to seeing the 22-year-old holding the Arsenal shirt at his unveiling – but what squad number could the midfielder take at the Emirates?
Well, it would appear that Buendia has one favoured option as he has always admitted he loves playing in the middle of the park.
At Arsenal, the no.10 is vacant after the departure of Mesut Ozil, who featured just once under Arteta in the first half of the season across all competitions.
The Gunners have now submitted their second offer worth around €35M and should that offer be accepted, Buendia could get his dream shirt number 10.
