Erik ten Hag believes he can get the best out of Harry Maguire who was significantly poor in the past two eras at Old Trafford as the Red Devils turned down Barcelona’s offer for the English man.
Although his captaincy role is at stake at the moment but it’s not game over for the former Leicester City man who has found favor in the eyes of the new manager.
This comes after the England National Team Manager, Gareth Southgate tagged Maguire as the best defender in the current Man United squad.
Man United are looking to reinforce their squad and new signings despite in process are yet to arrive with outgoings already announced.
Late on Sunday, it was disclosed that Man United had turned down an offer from Spanish La Liga side, Barcelona who wanted to sign Maguire.
Speaking on the defender, Man United new manager, Erik ten Hag appears to have boldly imprinted the 29-year-old into his project plan.
“I have taken my time to watch him and I can see his talents,” ten Hag said of Maguire. “We still have work to do on him and that is what we will do.
“His presence in the squad on and off the pitch is important to the team at this time. We need a player of his kind and we can’t throw away what we have.
“With the pre-season, we will see what we can do in the team and how everyone can fit into the system ahead of the new season because we want to compete heavily.”
