Chelsea have faced a major slip during the start of this 2022/2023 Premier League season campaign but Lampard believes the Blues’ Gaffer still has things in control
The Blues after their humbling 4-0 defeat against Leeds United went on to a disappointing 2-1 loss against Southampton before managing to produce a 2-1 10-man stunner against Leicester and as well another 2-1 victory against David Moyes West Ham United.
Bolstering their squad with the arrival of Wesley Fofana and Pierre Aubameyang who is yet to make a debut unlike the former who was handed a debut on Sunday, Lampard is confident Chelsea can return to the top form.
According to Lampard, the Blues have achieved a lot in a very short time under Tuchel and these early slips are better than mid-season slips.
The Everton manager left office as Chelsea manager only for Thomas Tuchel to succeed him days after, going on to win the West Londoners their second UEFA Champions League trophy and other trophies.
Last season didn’t end well for Tuchel and he hopes to end this current one at the top of the Premier League table after disclosing winning the League is at the top of his list.
Lampard believes Tuchel has all it takes to hand his former side the Premier League after he failed to lead them go significant triumph during his spell at the club.
“Tuchel is a gifted manager and I can’t ignore that, he inherited the same squad I was struggling with and he won the Champions League with them and that’s something I respect so much,” Lampard said.
“Of course he clearly has more managerial experience than I do but I learn everyday and I keep getting better.
“Chelsea may be in a struggling form now but it won’t take long for things to balance, that’s how it works.
“It’s even of an advantage that they suffer slip now compared to mid-season slips, if they can get their boat running now then they can go all the way to the end of the season in a top form.
“I know maybe one day in the future I can go back to the club but I want to when I have become better and better. For now I have to focus on Everton.
“I want to do great things here too before I leave when it’s time, I want to achieve as much as possible with the squad I have.”
Everton held Liverpool to a 1-1 draw after seeing their second goal dashed out by VAR last weekend.
