Former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has urged incumbent Thomas Tuchel to focus on seeing The Blues through the rough period despite Romelu Lukaku’s controversial Sky interview.
The Belgian striker ignited the football media on Friday, revealing his desire to return to San Siro after barely half a season in West London.
According to the 28-year-old, his move to Stamford Bridge occurred as a result of Inter’s refusal to extend his deal, prompting his return to England.
The former Man United striker also rued Thomas Tuchel’s tactics, stating his dissatisfaction with the German’s tactical deployment.
Speaking with BT Sports, Lampard expressed his concerns with the timing of the Blues’ record signing comments whilst urging Tuchel to stay focused on guiding his side through the rough period. “No doubt he bothered with the comments, it’s a tough time for the team, especially after the Brighton draw. You could see the frustration in his [Tuchel] reaction at full-time.” Lampard told BT Sports.
“He’s made his feelings known to the club as well as the fans. I think the manager should be concerned with grinding out the results at the moment, that’s what matters most”
“Of course there’ll be time to discuss his grievance, but at the moment it’s important to continue the title fight, and I think that should definitely be top of his concerns” Lampard added.
