FULL TIME: 10-Man Chelsea Holds Liverpool To A Deserving Draw

Chelsea had to manage a 1-1 score after been reduced to 10 men by Anthony Taylor

The Blues’ visit to Anfield didn’t turn out exactly as they had expected but living with a point than nothing is far better.

Chelsea landed the first blow of the game from a superb header from their German talent, Kai Havertz.

Havertz meeting the ball with his head from a finely curved Reece James’ free kick provided Chelsea with the lead.

With this even leading to a VAR check, James was shown the Red Card and Liverpool handed a free kick which Mohamed Salah sent Mendy in the opposite direction to put Reds back on level ground.

This clearly didn’t pull Chelsea back as they switched their game plan to defensive mode and maintained the feat in the second half until the final whistle.

Speaking on the Red Card, Chelsea captain; Cesar Azpilicueta said;
“I think it’s good we talk to the referees and they can explain the situation.

“VAR is there to help everybody. I feel sorry for Reece, it was very harsh. We had to fight as a team.”

Tuchel also didn’t fail to protest against the Red Card which also led Edouard Mendy b en shown a yellow card after firing the ball on Robertson after Mo’ Salah’s goal.
