Chelsea midfielder, Mason Mount believes his contributions on Wednesday night was not as much as his teammate’s who he believes should be named MOTM
The Blues are back to winning ways following 2-1 victory against Dynamo Zagreb on Wednesday night.
Raheem Sterling and Denis Zakaria were on the score board as they responded in style to an early opener from Bruno Petkovic.
The victory for Blues would serve as a makeup for their disappointing loss against Brighton last weekend when Graham Potter’s former side stunned them in a 4-1 shocker.
Denis Zakaria was handed his first game for Blues after the long wait since arriving West London under the former Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel.
Indeed it took Graham Potter a hard time to put trust in Zakaria but following the Swiss’ impressive performance against Zagreb, it’s now likely he would get more match time.
His technicality was top notch, always seen at both sides of the pitch, either winning tickles or pushing passes for a possible attack.
Speaking after the game, Mason Mount applauded the 25-year-old as he suggested it would have been better if Zakaria was names the MOTM.
“The lads have been battering me the last couple of games I’ve got man of the match as they don’t think I deserved it, but today I don’t think I deserve it!” Mason Mount said.
“Denis Zakaria came in and was unbelievable. He deserves man of the match more than me, and he scored as well!
“To step up after not playing, and starting the game, was brilliant. I’m very happy for him to get this opportunity and to do so well.”
Chelsea will return to action this weekend when they take on Arsenal on Sunday noon.
