The Ace man has shared how he turned down offer from Barca to move to Chelsea as the Blues complete their second transfer deal of the summer
While still celebrating the announcement of Raheem Sterling, Chelsea have already completed another huge signing as the player speaks on why he snubbed Barcelona for a Chelsea move.
The new Chelsea boss, Todd Boehly has finally begun his summer duty as he lands two mega signings in the space of one week.
Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly will join Raheem Sterling as the new comers in the club as they set to meet up with the rest of the squad who are on a pre-season tour.
Chelsea beat Barcelona to a 40m deal to land the Senegalese who is already completed his medical yesterday with the club.
Speaking on his move to Stamford Bridge, Koulibaly told reporters of how he snubbed a move to Barcelona for a Chelsea trip.
“Yes, I was approached by Barcelona too after Chelsea had contacted me,” the 31-year-old said.
“I know they were very serious about me and would pay what my agent asks for but I spoke with my agent and we had to respect our discussions with Chelsea.
“I can’t all of a sudden turn my back on a club I love after we have made plans for a deal to be concluded.
“Chelsea is a club I have always loved and having the opportunity to sign for them is a huge step in my career.
“I know football in England is a very different thing compared to the Serie A but am happy to face new challenges and see what the attackers are like here.”
Koulibaly steps in as a replacement for Antonio Rudiger who joined Real Madrid as a free agent this summer and could wear the German’s shirt number.
