Chelsea’s Reece James has earned praise from AC Milan’s sensation, Rafael Leao following a UCL challenge.
AC Milan star, Rafael Leao has suggested Reece James made him face a challenging night in London, as the Right-Back stole the show in Chelsea’s 3-0 victory. The England international not only kept Rafael Leao at bay but also contributed a goal and an assist from his position.
Reflecting on his encounter, Rafael Leao shared his admiration for James with Somtosport, stating, “James is a good player, he was all over me and everywhere at the same time, he timed his runs very fine. I hardly talk about opposing players, but this guy is actually the toughest I have faced, I think. He scored a goal too against us, and that’s something you don’t get from every defender.”
The 23 years old also acknowledged the challenging competition in the Champions League, emphasizing the need to focus and work harder in the upcoming games to secure a favorable position; “We just have to focus and finish in a good position now because the competition was never expected to be easy: “We slipped and we won’t let that hold us back, we will work harder for the next games.”

Reece James did not not only have a good night, but also made history and became the youngest Chelsea player to both score and assist a goal in the same game at just 22 years and 301 days.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was one of the beneficiaries of his impressive performance after being assisted to score. “For me he’s the best in the world at the moment. I think he’s doing an amazing job and you could see that today; a goal and an assist – I think he’s on top form,” Aubameyad said.
Chelsea will return to Premier League action in the weekend against Wolves at home, before Reece James once again competes with Rafael Leao when the Blues head to San Siro for their next Champions League fixture.
