Ralf Rangnick has hinted on the possibility of occasionally reverting back to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s three-man midfield trio ahead of Wolves clash tonight.
Since the German’s arrival at Old Trafford, United have continued to setup in a 4-2-2-2 formation, with two defensive midfielders offering a much needed solidity to the lineup.
However, the former Leipzig gaffer hasn’t ruled out the prospect of his Red side re-shaping to cope with the dynamics of certain ties.
“Of course we always want to maintain our setup to suit the style we play, but this is football, this is the Premier league, sometimes it’s just not possible.” Rangnick said ahead of Wolves visit to Old Trafford later tonight.
“We know we might need to play three in the midfield sometimes, we might opt for less certain times, this is simply a common understanding for us and of course we have to be ready for matches like that” he added.

“Like I said earlier, the basic goal for us is to maintain control of the game and of course try to cause troubles for the opponent. Of course it’s work-in-progress and we’re ready to keep improving” the German gaffer further stated.
