The Argentine while leaving in tears made mention of losing to Chelsea back in 2012 as one of his regrets as a Barcelona player
Lionel Messi was available in Camp Nou yesterday to present his departing speech after the club confirmed he won’t be continuing with them.
After 21-years at the club, Messi knew it was time to leave after the club shared they can’t keep him despite offering to take 50% off his normal wage pay.
During his speech yesterday, Messi thrilled Chelsea fans while stating his regrets as Barcelona fan.
“I would have liked to have tried to win another Champions League…. We got to the semi-final with Pep, they [Chelsea] prevented us from getting to another final,” Messi said.

Messi couldn’t hold back his tears during the speech as he found it very difficult to easily speak.
“Over the last few days I have been thinking about what I was going to say, what I could say,’ Messi said.
“The truth is that I am stuck, it’s really difficult for me after so may years, a whole life. I was not prepared. I was convinced I was staying, at home, that’s what we wanted.
“We always placed our own happiness first, being at home, enjoying life in Barcelona on sporting and personal level.”
