Cody Gakpo has in the past weeks received lots of transfer interests from several top flight teams following his impressive form
The Youngster is keen on leaving PSV this winter but with the several transfer interests flooding his table, finding a perfect destination remains a temporal headache he must get rid of.
Gakpo netted 21 times across 47 games for PSV, adding to the 11 goals he netted in 29 games in the previous season. Having already netted 13 times in 24 games so far for his club side, several European teams are keen on taking him away from the Eredivisie.
Manchester United and Real Madrid has emerged to be two of the front runners in the race to land the 23-year-old with the winter window expected to be a very decisive period.
The Winger is valued at around €50m by PSV currently after they had demanded for €30m in the past window. The increments have been caused by his current form in the World Cup tournament.
It’s expected that Gakpo would likely pick Manchester United ahead of Real Madrid considering that the Red Devils were first to push forth a serious deal.
However, Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk who happens to be national teammates with Cody Gakpo has dropped a very decisive statement that could affect the player’s decision making towards winter.
According to Van Dijk, every player who actually wants to achieve would definitely pick the club which is rated higher while going through his list of suitors.
Speaking in a press when asked about his teammate’s links to Man United and Real Madrid, the 31-year-old said.
“Are Manchester United and Real Madrid on the same level? No disrespect, not at all.”
