Manchester United Fate On Frankie de Jong Transfer Spoilt By Former Barcelona Boss

Manchester United are pushing strongly to land Frankie de Jong but following a comment from Koeman, it’s now understood that the Barcelona midfielder could be staying put

Barcelona midfielder, Frankie de Jong has been a major transfer target for Manchester United over the past weeks.

Following the arrival of former Ajax boss, Erik ten Hag, it’s believed that United are backing him on every transfer moves, including current and ex Ajax players that he would like to work with.

Rebuilding the Red Devils team is one thing the Dutchman has been charged to do and sources state he has already pointed Frankie de Jong as a player he needs for his project.

Manchester United know of the financial crises at Nou Camp and are hopeful they can bank on this to make a deal for Frankie de Jong.

They have already tabled a €65m offer for the 25-year-old but sadly were turned down by Barcelona who are demanding €85m.

Meanwhile, according to former Barcelona Boss, Ronald Koeman, Frankie de Jong is more interested in remaining at Barcelona.

Koeman believes that de Jong sees more future at Barcelona than in Manchester where he could be reuniting with his former boss.

“All I know is that Frenkie de Jong wants to stay at FC Barcelona,” the 59-year-old said.

Adding further on Barcelona system and what’s happening in the club, Koeman continued; “Barça live from the past, the 4-3-3. Football has changed.”

Manchester United will continue to push their lock on the former Ajax player and hopeful to change minds soon following talks with the player himself.

Barcelona on their end won’t give up de Jong without a worthy price and are even ready to keep him if nothing meaningful is seen from United camp.
