Mikel Arteta has disclosed his doubts over the consciousness behind Mudryk’s kick that extended Chelsea’s lead on Saturday night

Mudryk may have scored a very sensational goal against Arsenal to bank his second for Chelsea but to Mikel Arteta, the kick may actually be a mistake.

Chelsea failed to hold on to their 2 goal lead against local rivals, Arsenal as the North Londoners came from behind to share spoils at Stamford Bridge.

Statistically, Chelsea were the better side over Arsenal on Saturday night but this clearly doesn’t bother Mikel Arteta who believes Chelsea’s second goal may be a product of mistake.

Mudryk was seen sending an unexpected lob from the far wide corner while Arsenal goalkeeper, David Ray stepped out of his comfort zone in anticipation of a cross from the Ukrainian who instead outsmarted the brilliance of Raya to target the post from the distance.

The goal will clearly make it to the list for the best goal of the EPL week as it’s a very rare type of goal. However, Mikel Arteta while speaking to BEIN Sports reporter shared his doubts over the consciousness of that cross.

BEIN Sports Interviewer to Arteta : “Mudryk has actually come out and revealed that his goal keeping coach Toni Jiminez said that Raya likes to come out and to loop it over him!”

Arteta responded; “He said it was intentional? Ah okay, it didn’t seem, but if they done it on purpose then credit to them.”

Arsenal turn their attention to the UEFA Champions League this week as they push to qualify from the Group B where they have been drawn alongside Lens, Sevilla and PSV. Gunners battle Sevilla on Tuesday while Lens lock horns with PSV.

Arsenal are currently second on the Group B table with 1 point behind table leaders Lens after just 3 points in 2 games. A loss today would mean Arsenal dropping into the Europa League prone position.

Chelsea on the other hand aren’t featuring in any competition aside the English Premier League this season after their abysmal finish last season before the sack of their former manager, Graham Potter.

Blues return to Cobham to prepare ahead of their next Premier League tie against Brentford United.
