Napoli President Sends Official Response To Chelsea Amid Interest To Sign Koulibaly As Rudiger Replacement

Chelsea have been handed a major boost on their quest to sign Napoli defender, Kalidou Koulibaly following the exit of Antonio Rudiger.

The West Londoners have moved a step closer on their desire to sign the closest alternative to their outgoing defender, Antonio Rudiger.

Rudiger announced officially today that he will be leaving Stamford Bridge after spending almost 5-years Chelsea since arriving from Roma back in 2017.

The German’s exit came as a shock to every Chelsea fan as he is one of the most important players in the squad who have given everything since Thomas Tuchel’s arrival.

Close relationship between the Germans was thought very likely to play a role in keeping Rudiger at Stamford Bridge but it appears he already made up his mind on an exit.

The 29-year-old will be joining Real Madrid and Somtosport can confirm that he has already completed his medicals last few days.

Chelsea now turn to replacements which they are already labelling Napoli’s Koulibaly to be one and are expected to make an official move once their take-over deal is completed with Todd Boehly’s team seeming very confident the deal will be sealed soon.

But Chelsea are sure not the only team after the talented Senegalese, Barcelona are also strongly in pursuit to sign him.

Xavi believes Koulibaly will be a great addition to the Catalans and have demanded for his arrival at Camp Nou.

With the summer transfer window still weeks away, Chelsea have the gap to finalize things so as to be in a good position to contend for Koulibaly.

Following the many interests on the defender, Napoli’s president, Aurelio de Laurentiis took to the press to confirm of the club’s stand ahead of the summer window.

“Koulibaly is a symbol of Napoli,” Napoli’s President said of the 30-year-old. “If he no longer wants to be with us, he has to decide. We want Koulibaly to stay with us, but we can’t force him.” he added.

Napoli are reportedly eyeing up to €40m for Koulibaly after seeing several attempts to have him renew his contract fail.
