The former Manchester United player has applauded the club’s new manager after seeing him end Arsenal’s win steak.
The Red Devils paused Arsenal’s speed run at the top of the Premier League table, serving them a hot 3-1 defeat to make the home side’s 4 wins in a row.
Since the Liverpool 2-1 victory, Manchester United have always found ways to end their last 3 ahead of their opponents, from Southampton to Leicester and now Arsenal. Things appear to be finally getting back in form for the Ajax manager who looks to replicate his achievements here at Old Trafford.
According to Manchester United Legend; Paul Scholes, his former team may go a very long way if they stick to Erik ten Hag who he has identified as having that much needed tactical flexibility to shake out wins from a squad that has kept the losing mentality for long time.
Speaking after the game, Scholes shared that there is no need to expect further changes to the approaches applied by Erik ten Hag to his squad as he has managed to win games with this particular Manchester United squad, although some signings have been made as well with the newly arriving Antony Santos quickly handed a debut.
“These players now are probably not suited to the way he wants to play,” Paul Scholes said. “But he’s found a way to win games with this group of players – now, why would you change and go back to something that didn’t really work at the start of the season?
“He’s found a way of playing football on the counter-attack with this group of players – why change that?”
He added: “We talk about philosophies all the time, don’t we? These managers are stubborn. Arteta will be stubborn, Guardiola will be stubborn, Jurgen Klopp will be stubborn; but this man – you have to give him credit because he’s gone away, really from what he wants to do.”
Manchester United now sit ahead of Chelsea and Liverpool on the Premier League table and are looking to maintain the pace when they visit Selhurst Park on Sunday to take on Crystal Palace who won’t be an easy tie having lost just two games since the start of the new campaign [Arsenal and Manchester City].
The Eagles have managed to keep an impressing record, beating Aston Villa 3-1 on their home ground after splitting points with Liverpool at Anfield a week before.
However, their last two games have seen them winning just two points following draws to Brentford and Newcastle respectively.
Manchester United will be looking to serve Patrick Vieira his second loss of the season when they travel to London on Sunday but before that, the Red Devils will welcome Spanish side, Real Sociedad at the Old Trafford Stadium for the Europa League group stage which kicks off this week.
The Red Devils were drawn against the Spanish side in the Europa League Group Stages Draw that was held a week ago and will be hoping to come out at the top of the table, being favorites.
