Petr Cech Sends Message To Edouard Mendy Ahead Of UCL Final

The Senegalese will seal a very successful season should Chelsea lift the UCL trophy tonight

Just in his first spell on arriving Chelsea, Edouard Mendy is in the UEFA Champions League final and former Chelsea keeper believes he has what it takes to be UCL winner.

Petr Cech believes Edouard Mendy can repeat his good form tonight when Chelsea lock horns with Manchester City.

The 29-year-old just after a short time in Rennes was bought over by Chelsea and has since then been the best pick with Kep Arrizabalaga out of favor.

Mendy has featured in 11 UCL games this season for Blues and has managed 29 saves out of 32 shots he has faced in the competition.

With 8 clean sheets, the former Rennes goalkeeper has conceded only 3 goals, ranking his goal-saving rate to a whooping 90.6%.

“Mendy is a good option for the goalpost for what he has been able to accomplish over the little time he joined us,” Cech said.

“His focus makes him an exceptional goalkeeper, most times makes me remember my days in the post for the club.

“I believe he can achieve something great with the club tonight, he gives confidence from the back.

“We have been here over and over and we only took the trophy one time.

“The boys are fired up and I am becoming more excited as the time tick by.”
