Blues managed a 2-1 extra time victory against their Brazilian opponents to be crowned World Club Champions on Saturday night
Chelsea have finally completed the set of club trophies with Cesar Azpilicueta becoming the first Chelsea player to land all trophies in his cupboard.
Despite claiming the lead from a sensational header from Romelu Lukaku, Chelsea were forced into the extra time following the equalizing goal from Palmeiras attacker; Veiga via a penalty kick.
But Chelsea was confident enough for a win, late in the second extra time when the side was handed a penalty kick which Kai Havertz did well to convert becoming the first Chelsea man to net their winnings goals in both the UCL and the World Club Cup.
Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovic was as well present in the venue to support his side to their first ever World Club Cup Victory.
Just at the sound of the last whistle, the Russian Billionaire was seen alongside Marina Granovskaia walking into the pitch after which they had a high-five with Thomas Tuchel.
The club is sure known to be in the midst of injury blows at the moment and reinforcement is needed in order to maintain a healthy race in their local league.
Although Ben Chilwell and Reece James are said to have returned to trainings, it’s yet to be disclosed when they can get back into the pitch.
The team has struggled with results since their absence and the Blues surprisedly didn’t mark any signing to fill their spots during the winter transfer market.
Following reports, it now appears the side has greater plans on this issue, after discussions between Tuchel and Abramovic was disclosed by closer sources.
According to our sources, Roman Abramovic is very happy with Tuchel and from their conversation, Chelsea are fully backing Tuchel on any player he desires to land during the summer window.
Currently, Chelsea transfer decisions are 80% of Tuchel’s call and no one also leaves if he hasn’t sanctioned that, making the only manager in the club history with such privilege since Abramovic’s take over.
Chelsea already have names on their watchlist, including Jules Kounde who even publicly spoke of his disappoinment for not joining Chelsea last summer.
The summer will sure be a great time for Chelsea in the transfer market giving their large wallet and wage space.
Chelsea will get back into action this weekend when they lock horns with Crystal Palace at the Selhurst Park Stadium.
