Both Roy Keane and Southgate believe it’s unnecessary for Harry Maguire to celebrate in the way he did after netting England’s opener against Albania
Manchester United captain, Harry Maguire has been heavily criticized for his celebration style during Albania victory.
The Three Lions cruised past Albania in a 5-0 win on Friday night with Harry Maguire, Dean Henderson and Harry Kane all netting goals.
Reece James facilitating the opening goal did a great job in finding Harry Maguire’s head from afar as the Captain headed home their first goal of the game.
In reaction to the goal, Maguire rushed to the corner stand sliding on his knees and then putting his hands to his ears.
This spells he is opened ears to all the critics he has received since United have been in a bad form.
Harry Maguire captaining Manchester United is one of the most questioned decision of Ole Solskjaer who made the English man captain just few months after he joining from Leicester City.
Also the 28-year-old has been underperforming for a long time now but it’s strange he isn’t benched. All these are indeed what Maguire opened his ears to in his celebration on Friday night.
On the other hand, Roy Keane hasn’t found this celebration style worthy to be adopted by a player as Harry Maguire who has been underperforming.
“He puts his hands to his ears like he’s shutting his critics up.” Keane said; “It’s embarrassing. He’s been a disgrace last few months for Manchester United, he scores and he thinks he’s going to shut his critics up, it’s embarrassing.”
In addition England National Team manager added saying; “Is he a Hulk Hogan fan? I don’t know what the celebration was for.
“He is a fabulous player, two months ago he was in the Euros team of the tournament.
“He has rushed back (from injury) because he has a huge conscious to help his club. You get lots of players who hide in the treatment room but he has not done that, I massively respect him for that.”
