Thomas Tuchel Singles Chelsea Star For Super Praise Amid Display In Semi Finals Victory Against Crystal Palace

Thomas Tuchel believes the English man deserved to start the game but it’s no bad thing he came on as well despite at the expense of Mateo Kovacic

The Blues have advanced into their third consecutive FA Cup final with Tuchel still yet to lose a semi final clash in his career.

Both Reuben Loftus-Cheek and Mason Mount both claimed spots on the score sheet to help Chelsea on winning ways.

Chelsea were early into the game when Mateo Kovacic complained of pains and had to be pulled out amid injury concerns.

This prompted Thomas Tuchel into bringing on Reuben Loftus-Cheek who he reserved on the bench, but coming on, the Academy graduate produced a stunning display that forced Thomas Tuchel into singling him out for praise.

“Excellent,” Tuchel said of the 26-year-old. “He was very strong in the matches and would have deserved start.

“Honestly we expected a back four and wanted a normal wing-back and our captain on the pitch. We knew he was ready on the bench.”

“He needs to add nothing, he shows it in training. He needs to show it on the pitch. He hid his talent and potential for too long in his career. He is able to produce these performances, this is the way to go.”

“For him it’s step by step that he continues to grow in his confidence.”

In addition, the former PSG manager added of their FA Cup victory against Crystal Palace saying;

“It was not easy. We play again three games in three different competitions. Not always easy, very challenging physically. We are the team with the most minutes in Europe.

“Also mentally, to go in different competitions and put UCL exit behind us. We took care of the counter-attacks before they could create. That was their biggest strength.

“In football if you concede a goal, 1-0 maybe from the set piece you think ‘did we invest enough?’. It is hard, they played a new system and changed it twice. If you win it you say you are patient and controlled, that was it.”

Chelsea will face Liverpool in the finals as they set out to revenge their Carabao Cup final loss.
