Villarreal welcome United as both sides look to settle long terms scores following the Submarines depriving United of the Europa League last season
Manchester United under a caretaker, Michael Carrick head to Spain to lock horns with Villarreal following Ole Solskjaer sack.
With United still searching for a replacement, the Board believe Carrick is in a better position to take care of the squad while they continue hunt to land long term manager.
United produced a first leg 2-1 win against Villarreal when they both met at Old Trafford on September.
The Group F is looking superbly tight already with both United and Villarreal sitting 1st and 2nd respectively with 7 points each.
Atalanta chase in strongly from the third position with 5 points while Young Boys look to cause mayhem by escaping into the Europa League as they sit last with 3 points.
Should United produce victory tonight then they most likely have sealed their way into the knockout stages, but losing would mean dropping to the second or even third place depending on Atalanta’s result against Young Boys.
Paul Pogba is still absent from the squad following his long spell of injury, Scott McTominay is a doubt for the game while Donny Van de Beek will be looking to make a start after he greatly influenced the squad when he came on against Watford on Saturday.
Fred having missed the last game would be hoping to make a start today as well.
Villarreal’s Moreno has been ruled out of the clash alongside Danjuma who is considerably a major doubt for the game tonight.
Arnaut Danjuma suffered an ankle injury and even failed to make the squad last weekend. Midfielder, Etienne Capoue and Paco Alcacer missed the game too and is yet to be confirmed if they will be available against United tonight.
Micheal Carrick will have an opportunity to turn the tables for United who look to get past the sack of their former Manager, Ole Solskjaer with a winning against the Submarines after slumping to a disappointing 4-1 win to a struggling Watford side on Saturday.
