The Cityzens despite going so close to seeing the trophy, still failed it in 2020/2021 season as Kai Havertz helped Chelsea to their second UEFA Champions League trophy.

City are now stronger than they have ever been with the presence of Erling Haaland in their fore front and every expectations is channeled at them winning then UCL this season.

The reigning Premier League Champions have the deadliest front line with Guardiola’s masterclass rotating support behind Erling Haaland which makes it very difficult to stop the former Dortmund striker from scoring.

However, Pep Guardiola still fears that there could be chances of them not lifting the Champions League this season.

In a recent interview, Guardiola was quizzed on the chances of City finally winning the Champions League and the Spaniard named Real Madrid as the only reason they can still fail in the UCL campaign this season.

“We have a very strong squad now and we play good football but the Champions League comes with some bit of luck,” Guardiola said.

“We can still not win it this season because they are there, I mean the favorites, Real Madrid. Of course they have the Champions League aura and they play good football too.

“The only thing we can do is work harder and also hope for a bit of luck because it’s needed like I said. We will see how it goes,” he added.
