What Chelsea New Formation Means For Kai Havertz, Tammy Abraham And Timo Werner

Chelsea switched from a 3-4-3 formation to a 4-2-4, fielding 4 attackers in the second half of their friendly game against Peterborough

Chelsea ended the game adding 4 more goals to their first half 2 goals provided by Tammy Abraham and Christian Pulisic who helped Chelsea come from behind after slumping early to a Peterborough penalty kick.

The Blues did return to action in superb form after their 1-0 UCL victory against Manchester City as they netted their most goals under Thomas Tuchel.

One of the team’s main issues has been converting chances as many of them were missed by a misfiring Timo Werner who managed to compensate for his flaws with plenty of assists.

Tammy Abraham who proved to be one of the club’s promising finishers saw the most of last season from the bench after Tuchel decided to mysteriously fizzle him off the team.

But a name who came through to deliver for the West Londonders is Kai Havertz with his superb finishes did help the club through the semis after setting up Timo to head home and impossible to miss opportunity.

Havertz’s superb control is also responsible for the club’s UCL victory following him rounding Ederson to fire the Blues to their second UCL trophy.

With the new season ahead and Tuchel handed the pre-season to try tweaking out a solution for their lack of goals, the manager appears to already have done his works behind the scene while on holidays.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss knows that the coming season only increases the expectations towards his team following their UCL victory and top four finish.

Chelsea are now seen as the league favorites alongside UEFA Champions League defenders coupled with their World Club Cup ahead.

The least of things Tuchel needs now is a team struggling to put balls behind goalkeeper after putting in so much effort to bring it into the zone.

Blues dominated most of their games under Tuchel, even against Pep Guardiola’s side and Zidane’s Real Madrid but unfortunately, were limited to just few goals.

Fielding 4 attackers in a game that proves tough could be one of the ways Tuchel sees as the solution towards their lingering problem.

This also could save the club the huge sum they are looking to invest in landing Erling Haaland.

Following Tuchel’s recent comment on Tammy Abraham, it appears the English man isn’t leaving as rumored.

“I like that he overcame obstacles in his career and he has the spirit to make it at Chelsea,” Tuchel said of Abraham.

“This is one of the toughest challenges that you can face, but he is ready for that.

Having two attackers upfront could yield more goals and Thomas Tuchel is aware of this which he could be planning for.

While under Frank Lampard, a combo of Abraham and Werner provided more goals than playing them individually as strikers.

Tuchel is likely planning a similar method in the new season. This could also mean an upfront of either Tammy Abraham and Timo Werner or with Kai Havertz or with even Armando Broja.

Broja was just handed a 5-year contract with the Blues and could be in the first team in the new season.
