Arsenal Put £78m Price Tag on Martin Zubimendi

Arsenal have reportedly placed a £78 million asking price on Martin Zubimendi amid growing interest from Real Madrid and Chelsea.

According to reports, the Gunners would consider selling the Spain international if their valuation is met, although there has been no official indication from Arsenal that the midfielder is available.

Zubimendi joined Arsenal from Real Sociedad in July 2025 for €70 million, around £60 million. He went on to become an important part of Mikel Arteta's midfield during his first season in England.

The situation has become more interesting following Arsenal's signing of Bruno Guimarães.

The Brazilian midfielder arrived from Newcastle this summer, giving Arteta another high-level option in central midfield. His arrival has increased competition for places, although Zubimendi remains part of Arsenal's squad.

Real Madrid's interest in Zubimendi is not new. The midfielder was previously linked with the Spanish giants before choosing Arsenal, and he played down those reports earlier this year, saying Madrid already had enough quality in midfield.

Chelsea are now also being linked with the 27-year-old, with reports suggesting that new manager Xabi Alonso remains an admirer of the midfielder. Alonso had previously considered Zubimendi during his time at Real Madrid.

A £78 million sale would give Arsenal a sizeable profit after just one season.

But there is a question for Arteta.

Zubimendi has already shown that he can operate effectively in Arsenal's system, while the club have ambitions of competing for major trophies again.

Selling him after just one season could therefore be a risky decision, even if a substantial profit is on offer.
