Barcelona Plot Sergio Busquets' Coaching Future

Barcelona are already looking at Sergio Busquets as a potential future coach, with the club increasingly seeing a pathway for the former captain to remain involved at Camp Nou after beginning his coaching career.

Busquets has already taken his first steps into management.

The Barcelona legend joined Juliano Belletti's Barça Atlètic coaching staff in August and has spent recent weeks working behind the scenes, offering tactical observations and learning the demands of coaching.

The 37-year-old is also preparing to begin his UEFA A coaching course in the coming weeks as he works towards a full coaching career.

Mundo Deportivo reports that Busquets is taking the opportunity seriously and sees Barcelona as the ideal place to begin his journey in management.

His current role is deliberately low-profile.

Busquets has mainly been observing training sessions and matches while working alongside Belletti and Fran Sánchez. His input so far has particularly focused on tactical advice for midfielders.

That experience could eventually open the door to a much bigger role at the club.

Busquets spent 18 years at Barcelona as a player, making more than 700 appearances and becoming one of the defining midfielders of the club's modern era.

His exceptional understanding of positional play, experience at the highest level and knowledge of Barcelona's footballing culture could make him a valuable figure as he develops as a coach.

For now, however, there is no indication that Busquets is being lined up for an immediate first-team position.

His focus is on learning, gaining practical experience and completing his coaching qualifications.

But Barcelona already have a clear example of how former players can progress through the club's coaching structure.

Busquets is now following a pathway previously taken by figures such as Juliano Belletti and Bojan Krkić, while his route into coaching also mirrors the early development of Barcelona legends such as Pep Guardiola and Luis Enrique.

The next chapter of Busquets' Barcelona story has already begun — this time from the touchline rather than the pitch.
