Bologna Swoop For Darmian: Former Man United Star Set For Free-Transfer
Bologna are set to strengthen their defence with the experienced signing of Matteo Darmian on a free transfer, adding another seasoned campaigner to their squad.

The former Manchester United and Italy defender is available after ending his spell with Inter, where he established himself as a dependable option across the backline.
His versatility has made him a valuable player throughout his career, with the ability to operate as a right-back, left-back or in a more central defensive role.
Bologna’s move for Darmian represents an opportunity to bring significant experience into their dressing room without paying a transfer fee.
The 36-year-old has spent much of his career competing at the highest level, including spells in the Premier League and Serie A, as well as European competition.
Reports indicate that Darmian has already trained with Bologna and undergone medical checks as the club works towards completing the agreement. A contract running until June 2027 has reportedly been discussed.
The move has gained importance for Bologna following injury concerns surrounding Emil Holm. Darmian’s ability to play in several defensive positions could give the club greater flexibility as they navigate a demanding campaign.
For Darmian, the transfer would provide an opportunity to continue his professional career in Serie A after his successful years with Inter. He joined the Nerazzurri in 2020 and became part of several important squads, contributing with his defensive discipline and tactical reliability.
Bologna will hope his experience can immediately translate into greater depth and stability at the back.
While Darmian may no longer be the explosive full-back he was earlier in his career, his tactical understanding, professionalism and ability to perform in different positions could make him a useful addition.
If the final formalities are completed, Darmian will begin another chapter in Italy, this time with Bologna, as the club look to benefit from the experience of a player who has spent years operating at the top level.
