Darwin Núñez is set to make a surprise move to Turkey, with the 28-year-old striker reportedly agreeing to join Trabzonspor on loan from Al-Hilal.

The Uruguay international is now expected to reunite with his former Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah, who completed a shock move to Trabzonspor earlier this summer. Reports indicate that an agreement has been reached for Núñez to spend the upcoming season in Turkey.

Núñez left Liverpool for Al-Hilal in 2025 after three seasons at Anfield, but his time in Saudi Arabia has become complicated following Karim Benzema's arrival. The Uruguayan was subsequently left out of Al-Hilal's domestic squad because of foreign-player restrictions.

His proposed move to Trabzonspor would reunite him with Salah, with whom he shared the Liverpool dressing room between 2022 and 2025. The pair developed a strong understanding during their time together on Merseyside.

Trabzonspor are building an increasingly familiar squad for Premier League and Liverpool supporters, and Núñez's arrival would add another major name to their attacking options.

The move could also give Núñez an opportunity to revive his career in European football while playing alongside Salah once again.
