Brazilian striker Deivid Washington is set to leave Chelsea and continue his career in France, with Ligue 1 side Strasbourg completing a deal for the 21-year-old.

Strasbourg have agreed a permanent transfer worth €10 million plus performance-based bonuses, bringing Washington to the club after his difficult spell at Stamford Bridge.

The move gives Washington an opportunity to secure regular first-team football after struggling to establish himself in Chelsea's senior squad. The Brazilian joined the Blues from Santos in 2023 and signed a long-term contract, but most of his opportunities since arriving in England have come at academy level.

The transfer also continues the close relationship between Chelsea and Strasbourg, with both clubs owned by BlueCo. Strasbourg had previously attempted to sign Washington in 2024, when a proposed €21m transfer ultimately collapsed.

This time, however, an agreement has been reached, with Washington now heading to France on a long-term contract.

Chelsea have also protected their interests by including a buy-back clause in the agreement, giving the Premier League club the possibility of bringing the striker back in the future should he develop into the player they initially expected.

For Washington, the move represents a fresh start and the chance to prove himself in Ligue 1. Strasbourg will hope the young Brazilian can add goals and attacking depth as they continue their development under the BlueCo structure.

The €10m deal is expected to be completed with performance-related bonuses included.
