Manchester City Identify Enzo Fernandez as Rodri Replacement, But Chelsea Face Huge Decision

Manchester City have reportedly identified Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez as their dream replacement should Rodri leave the Etihad this summer.

According to Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, City admire the Argentina international and view him as the ideal player to fill the huge gap Rodri would leave in midfield.

The report comes as uncertainty continues to surround Rodri's future. The Spain international has been heavily linked with a return to La Liga, with Barcelona among the clubs reportedly interested as he enters the final year of his Manchester City contract.

Enzo Fernandez fits the profile City are looking for.

The Chelsea midfielder is one of Europe's best all-round midfielders, combining defensive work, progressive passing and the ability to control the tempo of matches. He also arrives with elite experience after helping Argentina win the 2022 FIFA World Cup and becoming a key player for Chelsea.

However, completing such a transfer would be extremely difficult.

Chelsea have consistently treated Fernandez as one of the club's cornerstone players since signing him from Benfica for a then British-record fee in 2023. Reports indicate the Blues are not actively looking to sell the Argentine despite continued transfer speculation.
