Manchester United Dig In As Bayern Munich Targets Benjamin Sesko

Bayern want Sesko. United want to keep him. And with the Slovenian striker finally beginning to show why the Red Devils invested heavily in him, a transfer battle could be brewing.

The Bundesliga champions are reportedly keeping tabs on Sesko as they assess their long-term attacking options, with the possibility of a move becoming increasingly intriguing amid questions surrounding Bayern’s future plans for Harry Kane. But United are unlikely to roll out the red carpet.

Sesko arrived at Old Trafford from RB Leipzig in 2025 in a deal reportedly worth around £74 million, arriving with enormous expectations on his shoulders. His first months in Manchester were far from spectacular, but the striker gradually found his feet and ended the campaign with 11 Premier League goals.

More importantly for United, his form improved dramatically under Michael Carrick. That resurgence has strengthened the belief inside the club that Sesko can become a major figure in United’s attack rather than another expensive signing who fails to fulfil his potential.

Bayern’s reported interest is likely to face a brick wall. United have invested heavily in the 23-year-old and view his continued development as part of their long-term rebuild. Selling him now would not only leave a major hole in the attack but could also undermine the club’s strategy of building around young, high-potential players.

Bayern, meanwhile, have the reputation and financial muscle to unsettle almost any target. But United are sending a a clear warning; Sesko is simply not out for taking.

Should Bayern turn their interest into a formal approach, they could discover very quickly that convincing United to sell is one thing and convincing the striker to abandon Carrick’s project at Old Trafford is another.

The battle lines are forming, and this could become one of the summer’s most explosive transfer sagas.
