With a keen interest to strengthen the left side of their defence, and injuries and inconsistent performances exposing a lack of depth in the position over the past two seasons, the Red Devils have identified the young rising Racing Santander star as an option.

United had initially explored several options, including Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall, but with negotiations seemingly complicated and competition for established full-backs remaining fierce, the club has now shifted its attention to Salinas.

The 19-year-old defender, developing rapidly at Racing Santander has emerged as one of Spain’s brightest young prospects after a series of impressive performances that have caught the attention of scouts across Europe.

Salinas is admired for his pace, technical quality and attacking instincts, qualities that fit the modern full-back profile Manchester United are seeking. Comfortable pushing high up the pitch while remaining composed in defensive situations, the Spain Under-19 international is viewed as a player with significant long-term potential.

Reports suggest Salinas has a release clause worth around €16 million (£13.7 million), making him an attractive option for United as they look to rebuild their squad without overspending. The relatively modest fee would also allow the club to allocate resources to other priority positions before the transfer window closes.

However, United are not alone in the race. Barcelona are also believed to be monitoring the youngster, while several clubs from Spain and Germany have expressed interest in securing his signature.

Although discussions are still at an early stage, Manchester United’s recruitment team are said to be increasingly convinced that Salinas could develop into a key player at Old Trafford.

With the club focused on signing talented young players capable of growing into first-team stars, a move for the Racing Santander defender would align with their long-term transfer strategy as preparations continue for the new season.
