Real Madrid break from tradition as Vinicius Jr signs new long-term deal

Real Madrid have officially ended months of speculation by tying Vinicius Jr to a new contract that will keep the Brazilian at the Santiago Bernabéu until June 2032.

The winger confirmed the news himself on Instagram, writing:

"8 years at the Bernabéu are too short... 6 more years and forever!"

The extension is significant because it appears to mark a rare shift in Florentino Pérez's approach to contract negotiations.

Over the years, Pérez has earned a reputation for refusing to bend during renewal talks. Club legends including Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos eventually left after failing to reach agreements with Real Madrid.

This time, however, the club made keeping Vinicius a priority.

That decision reflects how important the Brazilian has become since arriving from Flamengo in 2018 as an 18-year-old. Back then, many questioned the transfer after his difficult early performances.

Real Madrid never lost faith.

The patience has paid off.

Since joining the club, Vinicius has made 375 appearances, scored 128 goals and provided 100 assists while helping Madrid win two UEFA Champions League titles, three La Liga championships, and several other major trophies. He also scored in both of Real Madrid's Champions League final victories in 2022 and 2024.

The new deal also ends repeated rumours linking him with a move away from Spain.

Just weeks ago, Vinicius insisted he wanted to spend his entire career at Real Madrid, although negotiations had taken longer than expected.

At 26, Vinicius is entering what many consider the peak years of his career.

Real Madrid clearly believe those years belong in white.

For a club that has rarely allowed emotion to influence contract decisions, securing Vinicius until 2032 sends a powerful message: they see him not just as another star, but as one of the faces of the club's future.
