Real Madrid Face Brutal Run Before El Clásico

Real Madrid are heading into a demanding run of fixtures after the international break, with José Mourinho's side facing five matches in just 15 days.

The sequence begins on October 10 when Madrid host Villarreal at the Santiago Bernabéu in La Liga. Villarreal have made a strong start to the campaign, making the fixture a potentially difficult test for Mourinho's team.

Just four days later, Real Madrid travel to Italy for a Champions League meeting with Roma on October 14.

Roma have also made an impressive start to the Serie A campaign. After their 2-2 draw with Inter Milan on September 19, they remained level on 13 points with Inter and Lazio at the top of the table.

Madrid then return home to face Sevilla on October 18 before hosting RB Leipzig in the Champions League three days later.

The biggest fixture of the run comes on October 25, when Mourinho's team travel to face Barcelona in the first El Clásico of the 2026/27 La Liga season.

The timing makes the sequence particularly demanding. Real Madrid will have to manage domestic competition alongside Champions League football, while also preparing for one of the biggest matches on the Spanish football calendar.

Madrid have already suffered a 2-1 defeat to Atlético Madrid in their most recent league match, leaving them third in the table with 15 points, behind Barcelona and Atlético.

The October run could therefore provide an early test of how Mourinho's team handles a congested schedule and high-pressure opposition.

By the time Real Madrid arrive at the Camp Nou on October 25, there could be plenty at stake.
