Sunderland Complete €30m Deal for Dayann Méthalie
Sunderland have completed a major defensive signing, bringing 20-year-old Dayann Méthalie from Toulouse for a reported €30 million fee.

Sunderland have completed the signing of highly-rated French defender Dayann Méthalie from Toulouse in a deal worth around €30 million.
The 20-year-old left-back has agreed a long-term contract with the Black Cats, bringing an end to a transfer saga that had stretched across several weeks. Sunderland had faced competition from Premier League rivals, including Newcastle, before pushing ahead with the deal.
Méthalie emerged as one of Toulouse's most promising young players after an impressive breakthrough campaign in Ligue 1. The France Under-21 international made 28 appearances for Toulouse last season, scoring twice and registering one assist.
Naturally left-footed, Méthalie can operate as a left-back, wing-back or centre-back, giving Sunderland valuable versatility across their defence. His pace, physicality and technical ability have made him one of France's emerging defensive talents.
The transfer also represents a significant piece of business for Toulouse, with reports indicating that the €30m package makes Méthalie one of the biggest sales in the club's history.
His arrival strengthens Sunderland's squad as they prepare for another Premier League campaign alongside their return to European football through the Europa League.
After overcoming medical concerns that briefly threatened the move, Méthalie is now officially a Sunderland player.
