Super Eagles Midfielder Abdullahi Bewene Signs New Five-Year Deal

Super Eagles midfielder Abdullahi Bewene has ended speculation about his immediate future by signing a new five-year contract with Czech club Banik Ostrava.

The 21-year-old has extended his stay until 2031, despite attracting interest from several European clubs following his impressive performances last season.

Bewene joined Banik Ostrava two years ago and has developed into one of the club's most reliable young players. His energy, versatility and ability to play both in midfield and at right-back helped him establish himself as a regular in the first team.

His rapid progress also earned him his first call-up to the Super Eagles under head coach Eric Chelle earlier this year.

Strong performances in the Czech league reportedly attracted interest from Club Brugge, Gent and Slavia Prague, raising expectations that the Nigerian could secure a move this summer.

Instead, Banik Ostrava have moved quickly to secure one of their brightest talents.

Speaking after the contract announcement, the club's sporting director Ludek Mikloško said Bewene still has plenty of room to improve.

"Bewene is one of the players who has made remarkable progress. We believe he has not yet reached his ceiling. He has the qualities for top-level football and can become a very important player for Banik in the coming years."

The long-term contract is also a statement of intent from Banik Ostrava, with the club showing they are determined to keep hold of one of their most valuable assets despite growing transfer interest.

According to Transfermarkt, Bewene is currently valued at €850,000, although that figure could rise if he continues his impressive development.

The new Czech Liga season is already underway, and the Nigerian has featured in Banik Ostrava's opening two league matches.

While a move to a bigger European club may have to wait, Bewene's new contract suggests Banik Ostrava believe his best football is still ahead of him. If his progress continues, it may only be a matter of time before Europe's top clubs return with even stronger offers.
