The Julian Alvarez transfer saga is becoming one of the biggest controversies in Spanish football.
According to Diario AS, Atletico Madrid are planning to file a complaint with FIFA against Barcelona over their alleged pursuit of the Argentine forward.

Atletico believe Barcelona have been negotiating with a player who is still under contract, something the Madrid club strongly opposes.
According to Atletico's unofficial statement reported by Diario AS, club officials did not hold back.
"Everyone knows it's a cheating club," Atletico reportedly said, while also claiming that Barcelona have used similar tactics in the past.
The Spanish club even referenced Antoine Griezmann's controversial departure years ago, alleging that Barcelona approached the player's entourage while Atletico were preparing for an important Champions League tie.
The situation has become even more interesting because of Julian Alvarez himself.

According to reports, Atletico recently congratulated several of their Argentine players following Argentina's victory over Austria, but Alvarez was noticeably absent from the club's social media message. Many fans immediately saw it as another sign that tensions may be growing behind the scenes.
Former Argentina striker Sergio Aguero has also weighed in on the matter.
According to Aguero, there is nothing wrong with Alvarez speaking openly about his future. He argued that when a player is unhappy, everyone loses.
"If the player is not comfortable, the club has to help him," Aguero said.

That statement raises a difficult question.
Should Atletico force Alvarez to stay if he wants a new challenge?
Or should Barcelona be punished if they have indeed spoken to the player before receiving permission?
One thing is certain.
This is no longer just a transfer story.
It is becoming a battle between two of Spain's biggest clubs, with FIFA potentially set to become involved.

And if Atletico follow through with their complaint, the Alvarez saga could become even bigger than the transfer itself.
