Carrick Targets Silverware As Manchester United Launch New Season Preparations
Michael Carrick in high spirit, struck an optimistic tone ahead of the new season, insisting his squad is ready to compete at top level against the Premier League’s best.

Head coach Carrick has outlined an ambitious insight for Manchester United ahead of the 2026/27 campaign. The ex-player says the club is charged with combination of winning trophies and playing an entertaining style of football as he aims to bring back glory days to Old Trafford.
Carrick guided United back into the UEFA Champions League with an impressive turnaround last season, laying solid foundations for further progress. The former midfielder, who had won 12 of his first 17 matches in charge before being handed the role permanently, says confidence is returning within the squad.

“We want to play winning, exciting football,” Carrick said when discussing his expectations for the new campaign. “There are all sorts of different ways to get there, but a version of winning and exciting football.”
The 44-year-old stressed that returning to Europe’s elite competition does not give way to complacency. Instead, he wants his players to embrace the challenge of building on last season’s achievements and maintain high standards expected at one of football’s top clubs.
Carrick’s impressive interim spell in which he transformed United’s fortunes after taking over midway through the season, was rewarded by a permanent appointment until 2028. The Carrick era has restored belief within the squad and rekindled optimism among supporters, the club secured a top-three Premier League finish and Champions League qualification.
Carrick’s message approaching the pre-seasons is clear: Manchester United’s resurgence is only the beginning. With renewed confidence, Champions League football on the horizon, and a commitment to attacking football, the Red Devils are aiming to re-establish themselves as genuine contenders both domestically and in Europe.
The INEOS are said to back the manager with findings to attract players he dream for his project. Carrick has shown to be the light, which will shine on the face of Manchester United Football Club.
