Aston Villa Open Talks for Nicolas Jackson, But Chelsea’s Asking Price Proves Major Obstacle

Aston Villa have opened discussions with Chelsea over a potential move for striker Nicolas Jackson, but negotiations are expected to be difficult as the Blues' initial valuation is considered too high.

According to transfer journalist Nico Schira, Villa manager Unai Emery is keen on reuniting with the Senegal international, having previously worked with Jackson during their time together at Villarreal. Emery is believed to view the 25-year-old as an ideal addition to strengthen Villa's attack ahead of the new season.

However, Chelsea's asking price has emerged as the biggest stumbling block. Villa are reportedly unwilling to meet the Blues' current valuation, while Jackson's significant wages are also complicating any potential agreement.

Jackson joined Chelsea from Villarreal in 2023 and has shown flashes of quality during his time at Stamford Bridge. Despite inconsistent form, he remains highly regarded for his pace, movement, and ability to stretch opposition defences.

Chelsea are not believed to be actively pushing Jackson out of the club, meaning any transfer would likely require Aston Villa to improve their financial offer if they are to convince the Blues to negotiate.

With the transfer window still open, talks are expected to continue, although there is currently no agreement between the two Premier League clubs.
