Tottenham Agree Club-Record Sale of Luka Vušković to Brighton in £50m Deal

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly agreed to sell highly rated Croatian defender Luka Vušković to Brighton & Hove Albion in a deal worth up to £50 million, marking one of the biggest transfers involving a young centre-back this summer.

According to multiple reports, Brighton will pay an initial £46 million, with a further £4 million in performance-related add-ons, while Tottenham have negotiated a 20% sell-on clause and a matching-rights clause as part of the agreement. The deal is now expected to progress to the final stages, with only the remaining formalities to be completed.

The transfer comes just weeks after Vušković officially linked up with Tottenham following the completion of his move from Hajduk Split. However, despite being regarded as one of Europe's brightest defensive talents, the 19-year-old is believed to have prioritized regular first-team football, with Brighton offering a clearer pathway to consistent Premier League action.

Vušković's stock rose significantly during an outstanding loan spell at Hamburger SV in the 2025/26 campaign. The Croatian defender impressed on both ends of the pitch, scoring six Bundesliga goals, earning a place in the Bundesliga Team of the Season, and cementing his place in Croatia's senior national team.

For Brighton, the signing would underline the club's continued commitment to investing in elite young talent. The Seagulls have built a reputation for developing promising players into Premier League stars, and Vušković is viewed as another player capable of flourishing under their project.

Tottenham, meanwhile, stand to make a remarkable profit. The North London club originally agreed to sign Vušković from Hajduk Split in 2023 for a fee of around £12 million, meaning the reported sale could generate more than four times their initial investment in just a few years.

While neither club has officially announced the transfer, respected reports indicate that an agreement has been reached and that the deal is expected to be finalized once the remaining procedural steps are completed.
