Bruno Guimarães Reveals Why He Joined Arsenal

Bruno Guimarães has made his ambitions clear after completing his move from Newcastle United to Arsenal.

The Brazil midfielder said he wants to win trophies, make history and believes Arsenal is the right club for him to achieve those goals.

Guimarães completed a £75 million move to the Premier League champions and signed a four-year contract with an option for another season.

“I want to win trophies, I want to make history and I think I'm in the right place to do it,” Guimarães said after joining Arsenal.

The 28-year-old arrives in north London after four years at Newcastle, where he became one of the club's most important players and eventually took over as captain.

His time on Tyneside ended with a major achievement. Guimarães helped Newcastle win the Carabao Cup in 2025, ending the club's long wait for a major trophy.

However, the midfielder believes Arsenal offers him a chance to compete for even bigger honours.

Arsenal enter the new season as Premier League champions and have built a strong midfield that includes Declan Rice, Martin Ødegaard, Martin Zubimendi and Mikel Merino.

Guimarães is now another major option for the club as they look to compete for domestic and European silverware.

The move also gives him a fresh start after a difficult final season at Newcastle, who finished 12th in the Premier League and changed manager during the summer.

Guimarães has already won a major trophy with Newcastle.

Now he wants more.
