Champions League Draw 2026/27: Europe’s Elite Discover Their League Phase Opponents

The wait is finally over. The draw for the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League league phase takes place today, Thursday, August 27, with 36 of Europe’s biggest clubs set to discover the opponents they will face on the road to the final.

The ceremony will be held at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco from 18:00 CET, with the draw streamed live on UEFA.com and UEFA.tv.

This season’s competition features 36 clubs, divided into four pots of nine teams. The line-up includes defending European heavyweights such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan, while Fenerbahçe return to the competition after an 18-year absence.

The new league-phase format means every club will be drawn against eight different opponents, playing four matches at home and four away. Each team will face two clubs from each pot, with one home and one away fixture against opponents from every pot. Clubs cannot face another team from the same association, while a maximum of two opponents can come from any other single association.

The draw promises plenty of potential blockbuster encounters, with several European giants capable of being paired together.

The league phase is scheduled to begin on September 8, while the complete fixture schedule, including dates and kick-off times, will be announced no later than August 29.

With the final set to take place at Madrid’s Estadio Metropolitano on June 5, 2027, the journey to European glory officially begins today.
