Chelsea Wins At Craven Cottage In Thrilling 3–2 Encounter

The Blues made the perfect start, taking the lead after just 31 seconds when João Pedro lifted a composed finish over Bernd Leno following an excellent pass from Cole Palmer. The early goal immediately settled Chelsea and allowed their attacking players to play with confidence.

Fulham refused to panic and gradually grew into the contest. Josh King eventually brought the hosts level, exposing some of the defensive uncertainty that continued to trouble Chelsea throughout the game.

Chelsea responded strongly. Morgan Rogers restored their advantage before half-time, rewarding the visitors for their attacking pressure and giving Alonso’s side a 2–1 lead at the interval.

The second half produced even more attacking football. Chelsea extended their advantage when Cole Palmer finished clinically to make it 3–1, with João Pedro playing an important role in the build-up.

Palmer looked particularly dangerous throughout the match, combining his creativity with an increased willingness to attack the space around Fulham’s defence.

However, Chelsea could not completely control the game. Fulham pulled another goal back through Gonzalo García, setting up a tense final period at Craven Cottage.

The hosts pushed forward in search of an equaliser, while Chelsea were forced to defend deeper and rely on their goalkeeper and defensive structure to protect the advantage.

Ultimately, Chelsea held on for a valuable three points.

The result was especially significant for Alonso, who could take plenty of encouragement from the attacking chemistry between João Pedro, Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer. All three scored, highlighting the potential of Chelsea’s new-look attack.

Yet the victory also exposed weaknesses. Chelsea’s defensive organisation and game management remain areas Alonso must address if the Blues are to compete consistently at the highest level.

For Fulham, the defeat was frustrating, but their comeback demonstrated character and suggested they can be a difficult opponent under Álvaro Arbeloa.

Chelsea leave Craven Cottage with the points, but perhaps more importantly, with early evidence that Alonso’s attacking philosophy can produce exciting football.
