From Argentina’s third division to the Copa Libertadores quarterfinals in just eight years, Platense are living through the greatest chapter in their 120-year history.

Platense are living through the greatest chapter in their 120-year history.
Back in 2018, the Argentine club was competing in the country’s third tier. Eight years later, they have gone from fighting their way through the divisions to becoming one of the eight best teams in South America.
Their rise has been extraordinary.
In 2019, Platense returned to the second division before earning promotion to the Primera División in 2021, ending a 22-year absence from Argentina’s top flight.
They continued to progress, reaching the 2023 Professional League Cup final before achieving the biggest success in their history in 2025: winning the Apertura and securing their first-ever official top-flight title.
That triumph opened the door to the Copa Libertadores for the first time.
And Platense have not simply participated — they have competed.
They eliminated Corinthians before overcoming Coquimbo Unido in the round of 16 to reach the Libertadores quarterfinals, placing themselves among South America’s elite.
Now they face clubs with vastly bigger budgets, deeper squads and far greater continental experience. Yet Platense continue to stand tall.
From Argentina’s third division to the Libertadores quarterfinals in just eight years.
This is more than a remarkable run.
Platense are living through the most glorious period in their 120-year history.
