Inter Miami Lift Campeones Cup as Messi Reaches 100 Goals
Lionel Messi scored his 100th Inter Miami goal as the Herons defeated Cruz Azul 2-0 to lift the 2026 Campeones Cup.

Inter Miami have added another major trophy to their rapidly growing collection, defeating Cruz Azul 2-0 to win the 2026 Campeones Cup at Nu Stadium.
Lionel Messi opened the scoring in the 24th minute with a superb header from Luis Suárez’s cross, reaching a remarkable milestone in the process. The goal was Messi’s 100th for Inter Miami in just 115 appearances, and fittingly, it came against the same Cruz Azul side he scored against for his first goal for the club in 2023.
Messi then turned creator in the second half. His corner in the 81st minute was met by Casemiro, whose powerful header doubled Miami’s advantage and effectively sealed the trophy for the hosts.

The victory marks Inter Miami’s fourth trophy since Messi’s arrival in 2023, following the Leagues Cup, Supporters’ Shield and MLS Cup. It also gives the club silverware in every season since the Argentine superstar joined.
For Messi, the night was even more historic. The Campeones Cup triumph takes his career trophy tally to 48, adding another landmark to an extraordinary career. He was also named the competition’s MVP after producing a goal and an assist in the final.
With another trophy secured, Inter Miami now turn their attention back to MLS action as they continue their 2026 campaign.
