Former Portugal captain Luis Figo has publicly called for the resignation of FIFA president , delivering one of the strongest criticisms yet of the governing body's leader.

In a powerful statement, Figo accused Infantino of betraying the values of football and putting his personal interests ahead of the sport. The Ballon d'Or winner claimed that Infantino had "lied, deceived, and tried to serve his own interests at the expense of the game he is supposed to serve."

Figo also alleged that the FIFA president has lost the confidence of his senior staff, closest advisers, and many people who have dedicated their lives to football. He further stated that even the recipient of FIFA's Sports for Peace award no longer supports Infantino.

Concluding his statement with a direct appeal, Figo declared: "It is too late to save his dignity, but it is not too late to save football. He should go. Now."

The comments add to growing scrutiny surrounding FIFA's leadership and could intensify pressure on Infantino if more prominent figures within world football choose to back Figo's call. FIFA has not yet publicly responded to the remarks.
