Luís Montenegro Seeks Answers From Jorge Jesus Over Cristiano Ronaldo Situation
Luís Montenegro has reportedly asked to speak with Jorge Jesus as Portugal seeks clarity over Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from the national team camp.

Portugal Prime Minister Luís Montenegro has reportedly asked to speak with national team head coach Jorge Jesus as questions continue to surround Cristiano Ronaldo’s sudden departure from the Portugal camp.
According to SIC Notícias, Montenegro wants full clarity from Jesus regarding the situation involving the captain, following the growing tension between Ronaldo and the new Portugal boss.
Ronaldo left the national team camp after being left on the bench during Portugal’s Nations League victory over Norway and subsequently missing the squad’s final training sessions. The Portuguese Football Federation confirmed his departure, with Ronaldo later stating that he would explain the circumstances to the Portuguese public at a later date.

Jesus had initially insisted that there was “no case” involving Ronaldo, explaining that the decision not to use him against Norway was part of a pre-agreed plan. However, reports later indicated that Ronaldo was unhappy with the situation, while Jesus acknowledged that the forward had been upset.
The situation had already prompted FPF president Pedro Proença to intervene, with Proença holding meetings with both Jesus and Ronaldo in an attempt to clarify matters.
The latest development involving Montenegro adds another layer to an increasingly high-profile dispute surrounding Portugal’s most-capped player and all-time leading scorer.
Jesus had previously described Ronaldo as a symbol of Portugal while making clear that his status did not guarantee him a place in every match.
